Starting Friday night, we got our part of the ice and snow around here. More ice than snow though. I love how it looks outside, I think it's beautiful. The only thing I don't like is the freezing temperatures. I hate to be cold! (Which I am right now.) I do enjoy sledding, and looking at the snow though. The other thing I dislike about it is the bad timing for church today. I am praying it doesn't turn into another year of snow and ice and disrupted church services. As I studied for this post, I realized, the Bible has a lot to say about snow... It pictures Jesus
Revelation 1.14, "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;" It pictures grace Psalms 51.7, "Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Isaiah 1.18, "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." Its sent by God Job 37.6, "For he saith to the snow, Be thou upon the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength." Reveals Gods power Job 38.22-23, " Hast thou entered into the treasures of snow? or hast thou seen the treasures of the hail, Which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?" He reserves snow as His treasure. Think of the vast power He has! Snow is Gods provision for us Isaiah 55.10, "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater." It is Gods gift to us Psalms 147.16, "He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes." It slows our busy lives down and brings refreshment Proverbs 25.13, "As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that sent him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.", it eventually melts Isaiah 55.10, "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater." Psalms 30.5, "For His anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Whatever icy trial grips your life, remember it will not last forever. Spring is coming! If we are frustrated because God interrupted our plans this week, we need to take a closer look. Snow is much more than a fluffy form of precipitation.... much more. I hope y'all have all your Christmas preparations done. Happy eve of Christmas eve! 2 more days! Get ready, Christmas is coming! If y'all were as blessed to get a little snow as we were, take time to appreciate it. Stay warm!
