This child strolls around the house looking like a mini version of her dad. She is a daddy's girl through and through. Though many parents argue over whether their baby looks more like one parent over the other, a deeper concern should be their character. Would you be happy if your kids acted exactly like mini versions of you? If they lived just like me, would they have... Patience for all areas of life Respect for authority Compassion for souls Boundaries with toxic behavior Value for family Rejoicing in creativity Delight in books and learning more than screens Eyes to notice beautiful moments Faith to call their own Convictions and standards that stand despite pressure of the world Values and morals based on the Word of God, not the ideals of society Boldness to speak up for what's right Cleanliness and neatness of appearance and how they keep their home A willingness to serve Control over emotions and actions; self-control Gentleness toward others A genuine, intimate, personal walk with Him Frugality, good stewardship, and resourcefulness with what they are given Generosity with finances and time Courage to stand Reliability to accomplish what is asked of them Integrity to do what is right Loyalty, Humility, and contentment Zeal and excitement for the things of God Passion - ah, just a passion for all they do Attentiveness to other's feelings and needs Obedience to the Lord and God-given authority Reverence to God and His Word Discernment between right and wrong Joy in life. Joy in serving Jesus Modesty of living and dressing A desire to seek the Lord's will for their life Punctuality that can be counted on Endurance in trials Gratitude for everything Lips that speak the truth in love Purity of heart, mind, and body A life that offers grace, forgiveness, love, kindness, hospitality, and meekness generously I pray my kids live this way and obtain these character traits, but do I live these by example? The phrase: "More is caught than taught" rings in my head. Certainly we ARE to teach and train our children in the ways of the Lord, but that begins in our own life. May I be able to say to my children as Paul said, "Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ." (1 Cor. 11.1)
