Y'all, I struggle finding my favorites of things. If you asked me my favorite chip, I could toss around a few options. Like these hummus chips my mother-in-law got me, or those Hint of Lime Tortilla Chips. Friend, those are heavenly. Every trip to Qdoba finds me at a table with a lid full of limes squeezing the juice all over their chips. But, that bag is as if it has pre-squeezed lime juice in the bag. Saves so much effort. Ingredients aside, I would have to say my absolute favorite chip would be a toss-up between sweet spicy chili, and spicy nacho doritos. *Drools*
Just kidding. There is no comparison between these two aside from the Great Value brand can *almost* look like their superior counterpart. Even if they could look good enough and believable on the outside, once you taste it, you realize it's just a fake version of the real thing and begin to rethink all your life choices on choosing the cheap stuff.
Hebrews 11.1,6: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"..."But without faith it is impossible to please him..." I'm going to assume that your desire in life is to please the Lord. We also know what in order to please Him, we must exercise faith. My desire for you is that it would be YOUR faith; you would make it real in your life. Maybe you are saved - which is so important - but beyond that, do you have faith in Him for the every-day? Is it your faith, or is it some cheap, second-hand version of the real deal? At some point it has to go from the God that your family serves to the God that YOU serve. It must not be something that you do at church, but something that you do; something that's highlighted in your Bible, to something that is written on your heart; the God you know about to the God that you know. Following the God of your parents does not demand faith, it requires obedience. God is a personal God. That is one of my favorite characteristics of Him. (Which, there are many... again, I can barely pick favorites.) Many religions must go through a person or a priest to hear from the Lord... but we know that we have direct access to talk to Him. That's a concept my coworkers had a difficult time understanding, but it is so incredible! I want you to know a real God and in turn your life can't help but exemplify real, genuine, authentic faith. What moments can you turn to and say, "that was God" or "that's how I know He is real." Have you really experienced Him? Have you seen Him work in your life? Have you personally tasted of His goodness? Or, have you only heard about it from others? I want it to be your faith. Not your parent's faith, not your pastor's faith, your youth pastor's faith, but YOURS. You can't look back and say, "my parent's God comforted me in this situation"; "my pastor's God led me every step of the way";"my teacher's God did this..." No, it's so much better than that! It's personal. Your God can show you what His will is for your life. Your God will help you through any difficult situation you may face. Your God will provide for you. If this faith is to be personal, are your actions displaying it? Do you read your Bible? Do you read it outside of church? Do you read it just to read it, or do you choose to read it to hear from the Lord and learn more about Him? How's your prayer life? Does it consist of a 10 second repetition before a meal, or do you truly desire to talk to Him? Do you go to church to obey and worship with Lord or because you have no other option; because it's expected; because people would ask questions if you weren't there? Is it real to you, or are you conforming on the outside, but if someone could see inside, they'd quickly realize you weren't the real deal? Don't settle for a fake version when you can enjoy the real thing! Don't settle for an off-brand, cheap, fake faith. Embrace a genuine, authentic, real faith!
