Psalms 89.15-18 "Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted. For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted. For the LORD is our defense: and the Holy One of Israel is our king." Ever wonder why some peoples lives are so easy? It seems they just float through life on a bed of roses. The Bible say's specifically that we, as Christians, are not to look at lost peoples lives in envy (Proverbs 24), and for good reason; The end of their way is death (Prov. 16.25). But what about brothers and sisters in Christ? What about those who you look at and wonder what makes their life so easy, and where your bed of roses is? Well, for one, there is a flaw in the whole 'bed of roses' thing... that is, roses have thorns. That's deep, I know. But, it's true. No matter how 'good' someone's life seems, we all have problems. Theirs just happen to be different than yours. However there are people you will come across in your life that are very rare. They go through hard trials, seemingly without even bating an eye. Nothing they go through seems to change them, and they will go through a lot. Still, they come through it all smiling. It's those people that make me wonder what they have that I don't. Why is life and problems from it - so easy for them? I came to a realization the other day. A light-bulb moment, you could say. I am lacking nothing that they have. They have nothing more than I do. Sure, circumstances may be different, but to face difficult times, both they and I hold the same things. The difference is, how they use it. "they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. In thy name shall they rejoice all the day...For thou art the glory of their strength...For the LORD is our defense..." One persons stepping stone is another persons stumbling block. It's all in how they respond to it. We have the ability to face and conquer anything that comes along with His help. But, it is only with HIS help. Faith is the key. Now, our library has a book sale twice a year. The latest one being last week. It goes on for about 3 days, the last day being on a Sunday. That day, all the books must go or they will get thrown away. So, they are priced at $1 for as many as you can stuff into a brown paper bag. I am awesome at packing those sacks, if I do say so myself. The same way with packing a suitcase, I can ALWAYS fit 'just one more thing in', and 28 things later, I can STILL fit 'just one more thing in'. Yes, I am an over packer. i.e..... Anyway, this year, it was my task to get as many books as possible for my nieces and nephews. And, I accomplished it... so much so I could barely pick up the sacks. As I was sorting them by reading level, I ran across one that looked interesting, so I kept it out. It was a black and white, pencil drawn book. 1st grade reading level... just my speed. Just kidding. It was cute though. I shall read it to you. "Billy and the Attic Adventure" |
