As C.S. Lewis once said, “I want God, not my idea of God.” That is my hearts desire. I want God. I not only want Him, I need Him... every second. My God is an awesome God! Sometimes I just stop and try to begin to get my mind wrapped around just Who God really is. Then, I pause and remind myself of what He’s done, and realize what He can do. Also at times, I think of all that, and remind myself then of Whose I am. I am His daughter. That alone is incredible. Then to think, I am on His mind constantly. All the while He has countless others that are on His mind. But I occupy His mind all the time. As do they. That is simply indescribable. He, God, the one who created the world and universe and everything in it with simply words alone, He created me. He loves me. He’s interested in my life, and knows every single detail of it including how many hairs I have on my head. It’s indescribable; He is indescribable.
I think we, or at least I, at times congure up in our minds how everything is going to work. We try to decide the ‘plays’ God will make in our life. We want Him, but we also want Him to do everything the way we think it should go. We want Him, but we want Him to be like how we make Him to be. We want to ‘play God’, whether we realize it or not. We want to say a prayer and ‘make’ Him do what we want. That is so not how it works. I once read a book called, “The Pursuit of God”. It was slightly difficult to read, but I ‘got’ was incredible. In reading it, it impressed upon to reader to pursue God. Pursue Him, to know Him, not to gain anything, but simply to know God better. I seem to think it is the ones who serve God faithfully, who follow His leading, and have a close walk with Christ; the ones who are trying their best to do right and serve Him, they’re the ones life is going to be the most unfair towards. They are the ones who get put through the most. Think of all the Christians throughout the years, Peter, Job, Paul, Stephen, and many others. They were stoned, beaten, be-headed, burned, shipwrecked. Their life was far from easy, and they are the ones we call the faithful Christians. It seems to me that the ones who are most faithful are the ones who get put into the lions dens, and fiery furnaces. But I also believe that it’s through those trials God places His children in that He really shows Himself through. Anyone can serve God when it’s easy, but when the opposition and hard times come, it’s then when faith kicks in and is put to the test. So do you want your idea of God, or do you want God?
