"Christian teens now more than ever, have to seek God's face when it comes to making decisions in their life.Whether the decision is big or small it's important to never rely on your own understanding. Seek Godly counsel from those whom God has placed in your life and when they give you advice from the Word of God... Just do it." - Angela Q."Proverbs 3.5 & 6, Trust in the LORD with all thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." - Bethany D."Proverbs 3.5&6. Truly live these verses and claim the promise therein. It's the only way to have real peace." - Valerie R.
"Corrie ten Boom said ‘Don’t pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord and keep it. A man is powerful on his knees.’ I hope y'all will LISTEN AND LEARN from the wisdom in these previous quotes. I have very much enjoyed getting these together. Maybe someday I'll do another. I've been studying Proverbs for a few weeks now. It's been really good. A friend of ours, Jack Parker challenged me to study it, so, he and I have been studying it together. It's been a great challenge, motivation, and encouragement. As we compare our thoughts on each chapter, we learn more, gaining another perspective of it. I have learned the benefit of studying with someone. Yes, personal devotions are important, and don't trade them out. But, I highly recommend starting this study with a friend or two of your own. "Iron sharpeneth iron..." (Proverbs 27.17), so will y'all help eachother. Ecc. 4.9+10, "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up." In doing a group study, you will be given a different perspective; Different thoughts on the same verse; Accountability so you can't quit; and, more motivation to study your Bible on your own. How would you do this? That's up to you. For me, Skype is very beneficial. We study on your own, then get together and share our notes and thoughts. Simple enough, yet it's such a blessing. Only around 30 verses each day to study. And, 31 chapters, study one every day corresponding with the date. For you, maybe you have a time of the day y'all could get together and study it together. Or maybe text eachother what you learn during your study. However you choose to do it, I hope you will accept the challenge. "A wise man once said", pretty much sums up the book of Proverbs. Solomon, the wisest man, wrote a book on practical truths for today. The most common subject he touches on is WISDOM. One chapter in Proverbs has many different thoughts or subjects going. Often seems like a series of unrelated bullet point style bits of wisdom. However, it all comes down to one main idea. The wicked man versus the wise man. Sometimes it plays out in displaying the contrast of the positive with the negative, such as, -Wisdom versus foolishness -Joy versus Anger -Love versus Lust -Generosity versus stinginess -Diligence versus laziness -The just versus Unjust -Sinners versus Righteous It tells us what we should not be. And, what we should be. The pursuit of wisdom. Parenting. How to treat others. Avoid evil companions. Trust God. Words are powerful. It's all in there and more. It's a very rich book. Why not take the challenge yourself to study God's Word every day, whether it be on your own, or with a group of your friends? And once your finished, start over again. Either in Proverbs, or in another book of the Bible. As for me, my desire is then to study "What and Why I Stand". What I stand for and why I do. I want to make a list of things, which I already started doing, and take each one, study it out, and decide if I believe it or not, and then why. Which, I hope to do, again, with someone. Sooner than you think, you will be on your own. You won't be able to fall back on your parents or pastor for a reason you do the things you do (or don't do), you will have to make your own decisions, and often stand ALONE. You must have solid convictions of what you stand for and the ability to know WHY or you'll never be able to stand against the temptation that WILL come. Anyway, I said all that to say this..... Through all the chapters we've studied so far, there's one re-occurring thought; Listen and Learn from those whom God has placed in your life. Every verse with that theme has stuck out to me, especially since I had begun preparing this post... (or posts). I went through the entire book and highlighted every verse that had that idea. And there is A LOT! Proverbs 1.5, 1.8, 4.1, 4.10, 4.13, 4.20, 5.1, 6.20, 7.1, 7.24, 8.33, 9.9, 12.1, 12.15, 13.1, 13.18, 15.5, 15.32&33, 19.20, 22.17, 23.12 These are just a few. :) There's no doubt, it's important! So, LISTEN & LEARN!!!!!!!!!!!! And here's for those promised pictures.... enjoy. =) (BTW, they are fake.)
