Joshua 23.14-16, “And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof. Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the Lord your God promised you; so shall the Lord bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the Lord your God hath given you. When ye have transgressed the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the Lord be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.” We continue as Joshua sends them on their way with a warning but it doesn't stop there. He goes on and reminds them of what the Lord has done for them in the past.
God has fulfilled every good promise that was given to them. Nothing has failed from what He said. BUT just as all good things are come upon you which the Lord your God promised you; so shall the Lord bring upon you all evil things if you transgress the Lord, disregard what He commands you, and serve other gods. Just as you receive the blessings and rewards of following Him, you will also receive the consequences and punishment of disobedience. People don’t often give their lives over to sin as a one-time conscious decision. Most people didn’t enter into a relationship intending to have a broken marriage. Far from it. Most people don’t choose a friend with the intention of getting trapped in an addiction. Most people don’t accept a job knowing full well that they will not be faithful to church within six months. Most people start off doing really well, but slowly, and without realizing it, become focused on the wrong things. They begin making the smallest shifts backwards till they’re far from where they intended to be. Why? Because we have a sinful nature and it is in us to sin, do wrong, be selfish, and not make right decisions. We deceive ourselves thinking we know best. Which is why we must give diligent heed to what is right, because if we do not give heed to do right, our default... isn’t righteousness. So, will you be passionate? Will you take diligent heed? Will you take diligent heed to love they Lord your God? Will you take diligent heed to walk in all His ways? Will you take diligent heed to keep His commandments? Will you take diligent heed to cleave unto Him? Will you take diligent heed to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul? He is worth it. And not one thing has failed.
