You can remember when you were a little kid, or at least know of a child who's parent said to then, "Oh, be still." Maybe you were anxious, annoying, or persistent with questions. In reply they told you, "be still". As a child, we fear the unknown. We become anxious of what we are unsure of. We let our imagination carry us away. We ask questions with answers unknown. We ask "why" a thousand times a day. While, in response to our impatience and mistrust, our Heavenly Father answers, "be still". "Be still and know that I am God." Stand still, and let me move. "Oh, be still." A song I recently ran across by Cary Schmidt, "Rest in Me". The beginning of the chorus stuck out to me saying, "Oh be still"; "Oh, be still, My child... rest in me." It puts into perspective our distrust. Our Father has planned the way, but because we don't understand it and we don't know; we don't know how it's all going to work out, we ask unnecessary questions, become anxious, and doubt Him. While our Father reply's, "Just be still". REST IN ME When confusion fills my life and my world inside is torn apart; When the road just seems too rough and discouragement just riffs my heart; I lift my eyes and see, the One who died for me Is standing there beside me, and says so tenderly, Oh be still, My child, and know I'm your God. Rest to know, The King of Glory is on your side. Let me bear all your pain and carry your load. Oh be still, My child and rest in me. When I loose the ones I love and there's no one there to stand by me, Or when all I have is gone; my dreams, my plans are all destroyed; I lift my eyes and see, the One who died for me is standing there beside me and says so tenderly.
