new prayer Sometimes the lions mouths shut tight And others, the guiding flame burns bright. But oft times the way is dark and Out ahead looms a threatnin' cross. I’m caught by sorrow, pain, and loss; I face my deepest grief, Of which I find no relief; I fall apart, instead of looking at Who You are. Lord I have a new prayer.
I know my cry you’ll hear Sometimes I doubt if your near Tho you promised you’d be near I listen in the silence For a still small voice I pray your voice to hear While I pray my new prayer. This weighty burden you must now bear Is a precious lesson placed into your care Though it causes you so much pain T’was brought to you for gain Each one, in love from Heaven sent And always just for blessing meant. So accept your burden willingly, And with an honest heart, You’ll pray. Such a strange gift indeed! Still I don’t ask for Your will to see Nor my cross to understand Better in the darkness to hold Thy hand 'Let this cup pass’, I no longer say ‘Not mine, but thine’ , will I now pray. The lessons’ hard, the way is long, But I know it's in Your hand. -Unknown
