“…let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.” A verse that I’ve read so many times but never did it mean so much to me as it has recently. This time of year often brings with it a time of thankfulness and testimonies of God’s goodness. Among the most mentioned blessings would have to be “church family”. It’s so easy to say/hear that because “that’s just what we do”, but there’s a fresh, deep gratitude for my church family this year. I’ve heard it said, “Talking don’t do it, doing it does it.” If there are two things that I’d say frustrate me, it’s fake people and lying…. and slow things (mainly technology ). I love words, but words alone are often very empty, shallow, and fake. It’s SO easy to just say something that sounds good but it’s something much more to prove it with actions. This year especially, I can’t begin to express the many ways our church family have displayed a care and love for me and my family that words only reinforce. They’ve shown up, held space, and provided for needs they didn’t know existed- just because they cared. My little people are so loved and love all of them. They don’t know the Lord yet or have a love for Him, but they are already seeing the love of Christ through the lives of those here. Whether that’s in your patient interactions in nursery, gently teaching them, instructing them in the proper ways of fist bumps, or playing with them. It’s so sweet to watch Jae interact with everyone and her face lights up with all the different quirks she has with each person. How she remembers them, I don’t know. Jason has no clue of what’s going on quite yet, but I can tell he is also very loved already. Actions speak louder than words. Thankful for a church family that loves not only with their words, but also in actions. For our church family, thank you. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of yours and your children’s lives. Especially since having kids, I don’t take that lightly. We love your teens so much!!! Thank you for loving on us and our little people and truly becoming family. For all others, I encourage you to BE the kind of church member and friend that has been demonstrated to us time and time again.
