I remember Hebrews class with Bro. Rick Williams in college very vividly. Probably one of my favorite, and THE most impactful classes for me personally. I recall studying and outlining the book of Hebrews which stretched me immensely. Among the projects to complete was a paper that was essentially an evaluation of your own heart; your own faith. If we TRULY had faith, would our dreams and goals be so small? If we truly believed that God could work miracles and do amazing things with lives, wouldn’t we pray bigger, serve harder, and give more? I wrote a figurative story; a “by faith” story of what my mind thought God might do with my life “someday”. Then, you read that and realize how impossible those things seemed. Yet it doesn’t even scratch the surface of what He can do! At that was the point. Y’all, we have such small faith! He can do so much more above what we ask or think. His ways and thoughts are so much higher than what we can comprehend. (Now, this practice was not one to attempt and write out what you thought He should do in your life, but to visually demonstrate faith.) I say all that because a moment recently brought it all back. We just got back from church with some precious teens and church members. As I walked up the stairs, I could hear my husband reading to and praying with our baby girl before bed. (Story-time/bedtime is THE best around here.) As a girl, especially, I think we dream of the someday. We picture what the future would look. Someday when I am married... Someday in a home of my own... Someday my kids... Someday with... Someday I will... Someday I’ll be... Someday,... But forever is composed of now. Stop waiting for someday. Instead of anticipating what you have envisioned, start becoming on who He wants you to be so you are prepared for what He has for your life. There's not a magic switch that changes everything. He's got a plan for your life that far exceeds anything you could imagine, and one day you'll look back and realize that you have been living your someday this entire time. All of the sudden you turn around and... Those college years that seemed impossible- I survived college. Not only survived it, but made some incredible memories, friendships, and lessons along the way. On top of that, the Lord provided above all I could have imagined. The future husband I prayed existed is married to me... AND he's cute! That "someday when I get married" is TODAY. We are blessed with a beautiful marriage. The youth group I couldn't imagine being prepared for... well, I'm still unprepared for them, but they're here. The child that I didn't think could exist is now in my arms. (And makes it very difficult to focus - so if this makes absolutely no sense, you can thank her. :) ) I remember a time when youth ministry, marriage, adulthood, graduation, or a child seemed so far away, and at times impossible. That’s NOW. THIS is our someday. Unprepared as ever. 😂 We are living in yesterday’s someday and it's greater than anything I could have planned. "God wants for you what you would want for yourself if you were smart enough to want it." J.G. I'll say again, stop waiting for someday. Instead of anticipating what you have envisioned, start becoming on who He wants you to be so you are prepared for what He has for your life. He's got a plan for your life that far exceeds anything you could imagine, and one day you'll look back and realize that you have been living your someday this entire time. Someday you'll be walking through a pumpkin patch with the love of your life and your baby girl and realize that what you're living is more beautiful than what you could have imagined. Someday you will walk into a room of your house, stop, and just be so grateful for what the Lord has given you. Someday you'll get the opportunity to love on some people that you never could have dreamed what they would mean to you; and while you are there to serve them, you would be so overwhelmingly blessed by them. Someday you will live our your own "someday". If you let Him guide your life, you will not be disappointed.
